Yesterday, at a regular meeting of City Council, one piece of legislation was introduced, two were adopted, and three were tabled. Read on for details!

Ordinance 9374 providing supplemental and/or amending appropriations for the current expenses and other expenditures of the City of BG during the fiscal year Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2026 was introduced and adopted after the rules were suspended and it was given its second and third readings. This legislation appropriated some of the expenses for the construction of the new fire stations with money from the safety services bond. It also transferred funds for sidewalk infill projects and re-allocated funds for facility maintenance within Parks & Rec.

Resolution 3912 amending and adopting Chapter 156 of the Codified Ordinances of BG, regarding Access Management Policies and Guidelines was tabled until September 8th. There will be a public hearing on this legislation at 6:10 pm Sept 8th in Council Chamber. Updates to the Access Management Policies and Guidelines were presented to the Planning Commission on June 3rd. It regulates access points to public roadways.

Ordinance 9368 amending the zoning district map of the City of BG for approximately 22 acres at the southeast corner of South Dunbridge Rd and Expressway Dr, from Interstate Commercial to Institutional zoning was tabled until September 8th. There will be a public hearing September 8th at 6:25 pm. The Planning Commission recommended approval after a public hearing at its July 1st meeting. At that meeting, the applicant presented a plan for an assisted living facility on the property. I have included a section of BG’s interactive zoning map in the photo showing the three properties in the rezoning request. The three parcels are currently red for IC Interstate Commerce. The property to the south in green is zoned R-3 Multi-unit Residential. The brown south of that property is I Institutional, the location of The Willows at Bowling Green. The yellow tan color across the street is IE Innovation and Employment.

Ordinance 9369 accepting annexation of approximately 0.84 acres of land located at 1200 Sand Ridge Rd in Plain Township, Wood County, Ohio from Michael Q. McNamara, agent and petitioner was adopted. The other section of the interactive zoning map in the photo shows that property.

Ordinance 9370 establishing interim zoning of R-1 Low Density Residential Zoning for the approximately 0.84 acres of land located at 1200 Sand Ridge Rd and recently annexed to the City as petitioned by Michael Q. McNamara was tabled until Sept 8th when a public hearing will be held at 6:40 pm. The property to the west is R-1 Low Density Residential. To the north and east is Wintergarden Park, zoned RC Recreational Conservation. Across the street to the south is A-1 Agricultural.

The next meeting of City Council will be TUESDAY, September 8th because of the Labor Day holiday. Three public hearings will be held before the meeting beginning at 6:10 pm.

Also that week on September 10th, City Council will hold its 2027 strategic planning meeting, setting goals for next year. There will not be public comment at the goal-setting meeting. Please contact me to share your thoughts prior to the meeting.
